Holi, the festival of colors, is celebrated in the
month of Phalgun (February-March). With winter neatly tucked up in the attic, it's time to come out of our
cocoons and enjoy this spring festival.
‘Holi' comes from the word ‘hola' which means
sacrifice. The festival is a reminder that we must live our lives in a spirit
of service and sacrifice. It stands for the victory of good over evil, a
theme that runs through every Indian festival. For it is impossible that those
who live their lives by truth will ever be overcome by the corrupt.
Holi celebration begins with lighting up of bonfire on the Holi eve.
Numerous legends & stories associated with Holi celebration makes the
festival more exuberant and vivid. People rub 'gulal' and 'abeer' on each
others' faces and cheer up saying, "bura na maano Holi hai". Holi
also gives a wonderful chance to send blessings and love to dear ones wrapped
in a special Holi gift.
Holi also celebrates the legend of Radha and Krishna which describes the extreme delight,
Krishna took in applying colour on Radha and other gopis. This prank of Krishna
later, became a trend and a part of the Holi festivities.
Holi helps to bring the society together and strengthens relationships. Chandrani Pearls wishes to spread
love, joy, happiness and laughter on this occasion.
Chandrani Pearls wishes everyone a very Happy Holi!
